Dr Chris Hardwicke

Deakin Dental care are delighted to welcome Dr Chris Hardwicke to the team.

Chris graduated form University College Dental School, University of London and has worked in the hospital system and private practice, after an initial period of employment in the NHS in the UK. He has lived and worked in the ACT for over 30 years.

“I grew up in a working class environment in the north of England and only appreciated the value of good dental health as I grew older. Since graduating, I have constantly looked for opportunities to develop my training and skills – so that I could provide quality dental care, in as caring an environment as possible. One of my early employers, encouraged me to treat each individual as if they were my nearest family – and I have always tried to do so.

My additional training and qualifications allows me to provide dental care under intravenous sedation and general anaesthesia, which is a huge advantage for nervous and apprehensive patients – who would otherwise avoid dental care. Later in my career, I developed an interest in sleep medicine, because of the impact that sleep has in our lives and how this can impact so many other areas of our general health and have been providing dental sleeping appliances to patients for well over 20 years. As someone who uses a dental sleeping appliance himself – I know what a change it can make to the quality of sleep and well-being.

We have a chair side digital scanner which makes the process of getting dental impressions comfortable and accurate. For patients with a sensitive gag reflex, the scanner helps acquire the information without irritating your throat.

As a dentist, my primary interest is in saving the natural teeth and if it needs Root Canal Treatment (RCT), we are here for you. Our skill and experience ensure that you are provided with expert care to ensure the RCT is as painless as possible.

With years of experience, Disha is skilled in relieving the discomfort caused by wisdom teeth. She believes in after care with post procedural follow up.

Dental implants

Disha has extensive experience in placing implants to replace missing teeth. She has completed various courses held by different institutions and holds a Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology.

Oral/Inhalation

We have happy gas available or provide medication to help calm the nerves before dental treatment. Call the practice if you would like to discuss this option.

Special interests- IV sedation

Disha is undergoing training to be able to provide IV sedation to her patients. Meanwhile, she works with a sedation specialist and an anaesthetist who assist with providing IV sedation in the practice.

Treatment under GA

Disha is accredited to work in Calvary John James Hospital in Deakin and provides dental care to patient when they are under General Anaesthesia (GA) She has a team of Anaesthetists and Nurses that help provide optimum dental care for anxious patients and for surgical procedures under GA.
